about pigs on the wing

From its garage-rock roots in 2006 as a one-off show, to full album productions and performing for thousands of fans each year, Portland Oregon based Pigs on the Wing have built a loyal following dedicated to the band’s high energy take on Pink Floyd’s music.  All members of Pigs on the Wing are seasoned veterans of the Pacific NW rock scene and are unapologetic in bringing their wide-ranging musical influences to the table.  Setting the band aside from other tribute rock acts, Pigs on the Wing balance a decidedly un-tribute-like attitude towards the music with precision to detail and a deep understanding of the importance of Pink Floyd’s music in many fans’ lives. â€‹

Pigs on the Wing is: Eric Welder (bass / vocals), Matt Jones (keys / vocals), Bryan Fairfield (drums), Holly Brooks (vocals), Dave Lindenbaum (guitar / vocals), Jason Baker (guitar / vocals), Matt Sulikowski (sax)

Amongst the band’s accomplishments, Pigs on the Wing has in recent years featured full album performances of The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Wall and was recently ranked the #4 Pink Floyd tribute worldwide.  None are bigger fans of the work of Pink Floyd than the members of Pigs on the Wing themselves, a dedication which has been foremost in the band’s approach since the very beginning.

What is  your favorite Pink Floyd Song to Perform?

The entire Floyd catalog is great fun to play; I really enjoy Echoes for the long spacey dirge but it’s tough to remember the lyrics.

What is your favorite POTW tour memory?

One of my favorite POTW tour moments is actually a pretty recent one. Summer 2024 en route to Salt Lake City from Portland, Bryan slow-cooked BBQ in one of the vans all day in a crock pot. Every time we stopped somewhere or pulled up beside them….it just smelled delectable wafting up out of the van, cruising down the road. We stopped to overnight in like the middle of nowhere Idaho and just feasted on pulled pork on the bumpers of the vans and trailers out in the hotel parking lot!

What is your favorite POTW tour memory?

Playing the Halloween show at the Deschutes brewery in Bend - great group costume as the Addams Family, playing amongst pallets of beer, warmed the stage up for Deltron 3030, driving the forklifts around in the back, awesome overall vibe.  Think I was hung over for 2 days after that one, but what a great time.

What is your favorite thing about being in POTW?

A: For me personally, the best part of being in PotW is the collaboration and feeling of accomplishing something together as a group.  Each member of the PotW family (band and crew) has their roles and responsibilities, is good at what they do, and works hard together to put on our show.  It's not all peaches and cream and there is definitely some grunt work and long days, but seeing that our show resonates with and is appreciated by our fans makes it all worthwhile.

My favorite song to perform from the Floyd catalog is a tie between Mother & One of These Days.

What is your favorite tour memory with POTW?

One of my favorite show memories was in Bend playing while a huge rain and wind storm hit.  We scrambled to cover gear as it was an outdoor show halting the music to wait it out.  Amazingly, the crowd  stayed and we resumed the set under a post storm sunny sky.  All of this while some guy was eluding the police by swimming down the Deschutes River!

What is your favorite tour memory with POTW?

One of my favorite memories on tour was NYE in Hood River and I don't recall who got everyone started on it, but we had the band going dollar buy in on dice rolls in the hotel room. Everyone was so focused, the electricity of each roll brought the same tension & release as hitting those final notes in a high stakes Pigs set.
